According to a new report by the National Association of Realtors – based on a survey of its member agents – the purchase of U.S. homes by foreign nationals plunged in the 12 months through March 2019. The drop was particularly steep for Chinese nationals, for whom California has been the top destination. Thinking this through, the recent protests in Hong Kong proceeded this study, so it will be interesting to see how this unrest impacts buying behavior one way or the other.

This attractive Tuscan Villa is situated on apx 2.75 acres of land within the Blue Oaks subdivision of Portola Valley. We were pleased to represent a trust company in the sale of this this original condition 2 bedroom entry-level home. Frankly, we also take pause in referring to $2.65M as entry level, but within the context of North Los Altos, this is where the rubber ultimately hit the road. Through strategic re-painting, restoration of the hardwood flooring beneath 40 year-old carpet and by staging with contemporary furnishings, we believe that we were able to achieve a very high return on the $10k of capital invested during the preparation of this property.
