Chinese New Year:
Redwood City, its Parks Recreation and Community Services Department, and partner Redwood City International is hosting the 10th Annual Lunar New Year Celebration. City Officials and Staff will be joined by lion dancers, martial artists, taiko drummers, and other live performances, for this celebration of the Year of the Rat. Plus, folks can enjoy Free Admission to the San Mateo County History Museum where they can find free Kids Arts and Crafts.

Go and experience the Chinese New Year health workshop. They will share health tips for the year of the rat, presented by Dr. Quli Zhou, who as 35 years of clinic experience and a professor of Chinese Medicine.

For over 60 years, lovely and talented young women from throughout the United States have come to San Francisco to compete in the annual Miss Chinatown U.S.A. Pageant. The new Queen and her Court will become goodwill ambassadors for the Chinese community throughout the new year.

Enjoy a family-friendly, admission-free evening of live music, rotating food trucks and an award-winning selection of sustainable handcrafted beer and root beer. One dollar from each pint sold at Beer Friday goes to a different charity every month through their “Cheers for Charity” program.

Whether the economy is strong or sour, most of the museums in San Francisco and the Bay Area throw their doors open once a month to allow free admission to all comers.
Generally on the first Tuesday, Wednesday or Thursday of each month, these free days are often crowded, but if you arrive early, you’ll stand a great chance of seeing some of the Bay Area’s best museums for free.
