What is Pantone, and why have we chosen to share this on RickandSuzanneBell.com?
The Pantone Color Institute is a consulting service within Pantone that forecasts global color trends and advises companies on color in brand identity and product development, for the application and integration of color as a strategic asset. Recognized around the world as a leading source of color information through seasonal trend forecasts, custom color development, and palette recommendations for product and corporate identity, Pantone Color Institute partners with global brands to leverage the power, psychology and emotion of color in their design strategy – via Pantone
Why does Pantone go to the trouble to select a color every year?
As individuals around the world become more fascinated with color and realize its ability to convey deep messages and meanings, designers and brands should feel empowered to use color to inspire and influence. The Color of the Year is one moment in time that provides strategic direction for the world of trend and design, reflecting the Pantone Color Institute’s year-round work doing the same for designers and brands – via Pantone
Influence within Home Decor:
Though many were skeptical, I loved Greenery, Pantone’s pick for 2017. But like Greenery, Ultra Violet may prove to be a bit tricky on it’s own. Try to imagine this regal color worked up into a print, floral, or accent piece against the blue, mauve, grey and silver tones that are so on trend right now, yes? Not ready for a purple velvet sofa? Perhaps a vintage dark floral velvet throw pillow or a jar of fresh lavender or lilacs, may be just enough to refresh your home. Is it just me, or do Greenery and Ultra Violet pair nicely together? Something to think about…
Influence within Fashion:
As velvet, leather and other rich fabrications continue to trend, look for Ultra Violet in evening wear, but also athleisure or sneakers. I can imagine this deep violet worked up into a floral print or brocade fabric, or in gorgeous accessories and jewelry to compliment your looks for 2018!
Now tell me, will you be working Ultra Violet into your home or wardrobe this year?
