Over the past couple of weeks, we have been busy attending meetings pertaining to the Compass acquisition of Alain Pinel Realtors. Compass is a privately held American real estate technology company that was founded in 2012, is headquartered in New York City and has a market cap of approximately $4.4B. With the acquisition of Alain Pinel Realtors, Compass will have approximately 10,000 real estate agents under its flag nationwide.
For the most part, the residential real estate marketing process has largely relied upon personal relationships, referrals, networking and the use of traditional marketing collateral, i.e. brochures, print ads and postcards. Compass is fundamentally a tech company operating in the real estate space, whereby, the goal is to take the complexity out of the real estate process and simplify it through the development of tools and support to assist both real estate agents and their clients through collaboration.
For those not familiar with our (Rick & Suzanne) social media based marketing approach, we strive to develop creative marketing tools, largely superior video content and then promote our listings and brand through various social media channels. On the surface, this may sound simple enough, everyone does this, right? Frankly, not so much. The harder one works at social media marketing, SEO, content development and website optimization the more apparent it becomes how difficult it is to be effective and correlate verifiable results. I can envision those who work in related fields nodding their heads right now.
We view the acquisition of Alain Pinel Realtors by Compass as a welcome opportunity to enhance our suite of tools, while increasing our understanding of more advanced social media marketing possibilities. We really enjoy social media marketing and believe that our clients benefit greatly from the added exposure, while presenting their properties in a creative and flattering manner. When you really enjoy something, it tends to come easier, you get further with it and we believe that this firmly applies to our dynamic.
The roll out with Compass will take place over the next couple of months, so expect to see Alain Pinel Realtors signs replaced with Compass signs soon.
